- Exact name was 'en_windows_embedded_standard_7_sp1_toolkit_x86_dvd_651894.iso MSDN instructions tell you that the IBW is the fastest way to build an OS & it is, but it is hard to find on the MSDN subscription download page.
Mar 08, 2011 Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 consists of 3 DVD5 images (ISO's). Download the.exe and.rar files for each DVD image into its own folder and run the.exe file in that folder to reconstitute the.ISO.
Buidling my first Windows Embedded Standard 7 image with the Image Builder Wizard (IBW)

First you need to download the sources of WES7 you can find them here.
After downloading all the files you have 3 iso’s:
Since I will be testing on a virtual machine sa I can use the iso’s, otherwise you will need to burn a DVD.I am going to test the 64bit installation so I will be using “Windows Embedded standard 7 trial.disc3..bit.runtime”. After booting form the iso you get this screen:
On the first screen of IBW, click “Build an Image”.

Review and accept the license agreement.
On the “Choose how to create your image screen”, you can select “Do not use a template”, and then click “Next”.
but since an existing template meets our requirements, I select “Use a Template”, select “Digital signage” and click “Next”
On the “Choose a language and other preferences” screen, select an option from the “language to install” and “time and currency format” lists. Click “Next”. I select “English”, Dutch(Belgium) and Belgian(Period)
On the “Summary of drivers and features” screen, I select “Next”.
On the rest of the screens in the Image Builder Wizard, I use the default selections.
Image Builder Wizard installs Windows Embedded Standard 7. During the installation, it will restart several times.
On the “Set Up Windows” screen, Type a “Username” and “Computername”, and click “Next”
On the “Set a Password for your account”, type and retype your password and provide a password hint
On the “Type your windows product key” complete your key.
We get the “install evaluation copy” screen because we are using a trial version, just click “Next”
On the “Set Up Windows screen”, click “Use recommended settings”
Review your time and date settings and click “Next”
Select your location, I select “Work Network”
and windows embedded is running on our test machine…

I think this was to much work, we need to automate this installation. I suppose SCCM osd feature can help us with this task .
